Letter from the President: Cases By Source Supports the
Work/Life Balance


Trade Shows. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re a great way to identify potential business partners and cultivate existing relationships. But they often take us away from our families and loved ones for several days and induce stress in the months and days leading up to the event. Does anyone actually enjoy all the packing, unpacking, and waiting around? There are equipment and furniture rentals to arrange for, freight and handling to coordinate, storage space to secure and, of course, there's the fear that your shipments will arrive damaged or out of sequence, in multiple deliveries.

Then the unpacking and booth setup begins. There are signs to hang, boxes to open and break down, dunnage to wade through and dispose of, inventory to inspect, and merchandise to organize and display. It all takes time away from the whole point of being there: Instead of promoting your services, your sales team uses valuable time to help set up; instead of walking the floor to identify potential partnerships, you spend time waiting for someone to pick up and cart away your boxes and containers. What a waste.

But the show goes well so, ultimately, you think it was all worth the anxiety and exhaustion.

Hold that thought. You now have to do it all over again…backwards. Deconstructing your booth and waiting for your materials to be released from storage means you’ll probably have to stay yet another night in a strange city because there’s no chance of making a flight home.

Product Spotlight: Booth in a Box Trade Show Cases


Imagine: The ability to pack your entire exhibit, accessories—samples, chairs, literature, signage, tools, and all—in one or two cases instead of a multitude of boxes and containers.

Imagine: Saving all that money you typically spend on rentals and labor—tables, storage space, assembly—and manpower wasted while waiting for your materials to arrive.

Imagine:
No Styrofoam peanuts to clean up, no bubble wrap to store, no cardboard boxes to break down and, most importantly, no anguish over damaged equipment and exhibit wares.

Imagine:
Packing your exhibit so quickly after the show that you actually make that flight home.

That’s the way trade show exhibit set-up and dismantling should be: easy, organized, efficient, and cost effective. The only fees you should worry about are the ones for your booth space and drayage.

Inspired by cases we've made for the military—the ones that allow our troops to set up impromptu workstations and communication posts in the field—we designed a case that not only functions as a shipping container, but also as convertible exhibit fixtures.

For a recent trade show in New Orleans, we packed an entire 10’ x 10’ booth’s contents in two of our new 48” x 28” x 30” trade show cases. We transformed the case lids into tables, placed them next to the bases, and draped them to make standard 8’ tables. We used the 14.39 cubic feet—per case—of interior storage space for ancillary literature, coats, tools, and other non-essentials. And while we watched our fellow exhibitors inventory their freight and battle "popcorn," bubble wrap, packing tape, and banged-up corrugated containers, we simply removed the protective plastic wrap from our cases’ exteriors, lifted the lids, assembled the tables, and unpacked and placed our materials. All in less than half the time it took other exhibitors to set up the same size booths.

Our Booth in a Box trade show cases are fabricated from plywood laminated to ABS to provide maximum protection. Features include:

• A front-based lid that converts to a table/workspace with adjustable leg heights
• An interior cavity that provides 14.39 cubic feet of discreet storage space
• Stenciling and silk screen decorative options for branding
• Four heavy-duty swivel casters with two locking brakes
• Two padlock hasps
• An aluminum shipping plate
• An aluminum kick-plate to protect against forklift damage
• Flat corners so the top of case can be used as table top

The Return On Investment is indisputable: The one-time fee for the cases is reconciled with just one application.
